Changes

The Border

 

During these years we've been living in Pozńan we have seen the rynek go through a lot of changes. The restaurant where Joan use to meet with the International Ladies of Pozńan closed and became a pizza place, then a bar, then a disco and now it sits closed and empty. The bookstore next to it closed several years ago and nothing has replaced it.  5 plans were made to change the cobblestone floor of thee rynek but nothing has taken place yet.  All the outside cafes had different appearances but now all look the same. The old palace that has sat empty since before we arrived ten years ago is now in the control of Harrods of London, making renovations to turn it into yet another shopping area. The green areas in and around Pozńan are slowly eroding and new apartment complexes are being built. Even near where we live on the outskirts of Pozńan, 3 of the 6 fields are for sale. It's just a matter of time before they are bought and building begins. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against change. My life has been full of them but one thing that is essential to me is nature. That is why we live outside of the city near the forest and three lakes. The forest is my church.

W ciągu tych lat, kiedy mieszkamy w Poznaniu widzimy, jak Rynek przechodzi wiele zmian. Restauracja, w której Joanna spotyka się z kobietami z International Ladies of Poznań została zamknięta, a na jej miejscu była pizzeria, potem bar, dyskoteka, a teraz lokal jest zamknięty i pusty. Księgarnia obok niej została zamknięta kilka lat temu i nic jej nie zastąpiło. Opracowano 5 planów, aby zmienić bruk na Rynku, ale nic jeszcze się nie zaczęło. Wszystkie kawiarnie na zewnętrz miały różny wygląd, ale teraz wyglądają tak samo. Stary pałac, który stał pusty od czasu, kiedy przybyliśmy dziesięć lat temu, teraz znajduje się  pod kontrolą firmy Harrods z Londynu, która dokonuje renowacji, przekształcając go w kolejną dzielnicę handlową. Tereny zielone wokół Poznania powoli ulegają zniszczeniu;  budowane są tam nowe kompleksy mieszkaniowe. Nawet w pobliżu naszego miejsca zamieszkania na obrzeżach Poznania, 3 z 6 pól są na sprzedaż. To tylko kwestia czasu, zanim zostaną kupione, a zabudowa zostanie rozpoczęta. Nie zrozum mnie źle, nie jestem przeciwko zmianie. Moje życie było nich pełne, ale jedna rzecz, która jest dla mnie istotna to natura. Dlatego mieszkamy poza miastem, w pobliżu lasu i trzech jezior. Las to mój kościół.
