Game Day

I'm feeling a little sorry for the teams playing this afternoon with the outside temperature now at 36c and 2 hours to game time. I don't know why they didn't schedule it for the evening when it would be cooler.

The WiFi man was here for an hour and, unfortunately, could not figure out what the problem with connection was. I sent and email to the D-Link company and they said they know longer have free support for this model and it is discontinued. It is three years old. That is the way it is in today's society, everything is made to be obsolete in a few years so you have to buy another one. It's always something.

Also, we have a home DVD theatre system for watching movies and listening to our Spanish lessons. With the Spanish it's good because it shows the minutes of the total lesson, how far you have progressed in the lesson and you can pause and stop it. Yesterday when we were studying, all of a sudden the screen went blank and you could only hear the voice. I tried a movie DVD and the same thing, only a voice, no picture. So now we must take it in for repair. When it rains, it pours. :-)

However, it's a beautiful but hot day and we are looking forward to the match between Switzerland and Poland. We can only hope for the best. Switzerland is a better team than Ukraine but worse than Germany and Poland beat one and tied with the other. GO POLAND!

Post-Game...I have to admit, that was the most exciting ending to a match that I hace ever seen and thanks to friends we were able to understand why things were happening. The regular game ended tied 1-1 so there was an overtime but the score didn't change. Because this match was necessary to decide if Poland or Switzerland was to go to the next level, a penalty session was added in which each team had five chances to make a goal with five different kickers. The opposing team had a goalie to guard the goal and try to stop the attempt. Poland made all five attempts but Switzerland only four so Poland won the match and moves on. It is a great day in Poland.

To zawsze coś.

Ponadto, mamy system kina domowego DVD do oglądania filmów i słuchania naszych lekcji hiszpańskiego. Więc teraz musimy zabrać go do naprawy. Kiedy pada to leje. :-)

GO Polska!

To wielki dzień w Polsce.

  1. Watched game on ESPN with European commentators. They explained the chief referee had to all teams about what would happen in case of a tie. Then when this became necessary the refs again reviewed the rules with the kickers and the goalies. The goalie is quite restricted in movement.

When game started several us found ourselves in the club room of our building to see if we could find the game. Comcast apparently had a small outage and all of us were trying to figure out if was just our unit or the whole building.

Never saw anything until the second half of the game when maintenance turned on one of the monitors in the clubroom. A resident who moved in just the night before came by to see how he could watch the game with Croatia.

Had no connection to internet either for awhile, but could connect to different internet service in the club room and got the first score

When all done, using the WhatsApp -- and if you don't have this -- get it and use it with your friends and family in other countries -- I said this was worth getting up early as game started at 8 AM my time. My friend laughed via WhatsApp and said her husband, these people being in Poland, had just said the same thing about me.
