2016 Queen of Polish Constitution Parade was Ada Ezlakowska.

 

 

Today is the celebration of Constitution day in Poland. The biggest will be in Warsaw, of course, and a small one in Poznań. Strange that the obsolute biggest one will be in Chicago, one we have attended many times in the past when we lived there. It's an all day event with a huge parade that lasts for hours with food vendors everywhere and several stages set up for music. This year the Chicago celebration of the Polish Constitution of 1791 will be held on Saturday, May 7th, 2016 , at 11.30 AM , on a new route , along  State Street , from Lake Street to Van Buren St.   This 125th Chicago parade is in honor of the first democratic constitution in Europe and second in the world only to the United States Constitution .  Every year the Parade gathers thousands of people devoted to Polonia and Poland. Thousands more are expected to be drawn to the television coverage of the parade provided by Polish TV stations.  Polish values, history, traditions and culture will be presented by the participants of this biggest outside Poland Parade. 

We managed to go to the rynek after a horrible night of headaches and watched the Polish calvary ride through, To our great surprise, this time they had women riding with them on their own horses. Does this mean they actually let women into the calvary? What progress!! We sat for an hour before I felt the beginning of another headache and quickly returned home to take more medicine, an icebag and lay down. Thursday can't get here quick enough for me to see the neurologist again.

Dzisiaj w Polsce jest święto Konstytucji  3 Maja. Największe obchody będą oczywiście  w Warszawie, a małe  w Poznaniu. Dziwne, że największe będą w Chicago, te w których uczestniczyliśmy wiele razy w przeszłości, kiedy tam mieszkaliśmy. Jest to całodzienne wydarzenie z ogromną paradą, która trwa przez wiele godzin,  ze sprzedawcami  żywności dookoła i kilkoma scenami na występy  muzyczne. Tegoroczne obchody Konstytucji Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej z 1791 roku odbędą się w Chicago w sobotę 7 maja 2016 o godzinie 11.30 rano, na nowej trasie, wzdłuż State Street, od Lake Street do Van Buren St. Ta 125. parada w  Chicago jest  na cześć pierwszej demokratycznej konstytucji w Europie i drugiej na świecie po Konstytucji Stanów Zjednoczonych. Każdego roku parada gromadzi tysiące ludzi, którzy  poświęcają czas Polonii i Polsce. Oczekuje się, że tysiące innych przyciągnie telewizyjna relacja z parady transmitowana przez polskie stacje telewizyjne. Polskie wartości, historia, tradycja i kultura będą zaprezentowane przez uczestników tej największej poza Polską parady.

Udało nam się pójść na Rynek po strasznej nocy z bólami głowy i obejrzeć polską kawalerię. Ku naszemu zaskoczeniu, tym razem między mężczyznami jechały kobiety na własnych koniach. Czy to znaczy, że rzeczywiście pozwalają kobietom wstąpić do kawalerii? Co za postęp !! Usiedliśmy na godzinę zanim poczułem początek kolejnego bólu głowy i szybko wróciliśmy do domu, aby wziąć więcej lekarstwa i położyć się z workiem z lodem na głowie. Jak dla mnie to czwartek nie dość szybko nadchodzi, aby znów zobaczyć się z neurologiem.
