Berlin Day 2

We slept in late today, 11:00 and at 12:00 we met with Trent, a young man we haven't seen in 40 years. He has been living in Berlin for 25 years and this was our first chance to meet. We went for a walk around the neighborhood, a place he knows well because he lives only 5 minutes from where we are staying today. During our walk I noticed gold-looking pavement blocks in different places in front of buildings and they had writing on them. I asked him what they were and he said they were stones that told the names of Jewish people who were dragged out of their apartments and sent to their death in different places.  The stones were in front of the buildings they had lived in.  I thought it would be a fitting punishment for Hitler if he were still alive today to see4 how "his" Germany was now a mixture of many races and cultures and that Jewish temples were being restored and made part of the history museums.

We spent a few hours with Trent and then went on to meet Kassandra, her husband and a second  cousin of hers who lives in Germany.  On the way we stopped to visit church where Martin Luther King gave a sermon many years ago.

 We met for lunch not far from where we were staying, talked about family relations, her father who we have known for many years and their trip to Ireland just before they came to Germany.  When we were done, Joan and I stopped at a little bakery and had coffee and cheesecake. Tomorrow we go to Dresden.

 Spaliśmy w późno dzisiaj, 11:00 i o 12:00 spotkaliśmy się z Trent, młodego człowieka nie widziałem od 40 lat . On mieszka w Berlinie od 25 lat i to był nasz pierwszy możliwość spotkania . Poszliśmy na spacer po okolicy ,miejsce dobrze wie, bo żyje tylko 5 minut od gdzie jesteśmy dzisiaj . Podczas naszego spaceru zauważyłem złote wyglądających nawierzchni bloków w różnych miejscach przed budynkami i oni pisania na nich . Zapytałem go, co to było , a on powiedział , że były kamienie , które powiedział nazwiska Żydów , którzy zostali wyciągnięci z ich mieszkań i wysyłanych na śmierć w różnych miejscach. Kamienie były przed budynkami żyli w. Myślałem, że będzie to kara dla Hitlera okucie gdyby jeszcze żył dzisiaj see4 jak "jego" Niemcy są terazmieszanką wielu ras i kultur, i że żydowskie świątynie były przywracana i część muzeów historii .

Spędziliśmy kilka godzin z Trent , a następnie udał się na spotkanie Kasandra , jej mąż i drugi jej kuzyna , który mieszka w Niemczech . Po drodze zatrzymaliśmy się, aby odwiedzić kościół, w którym Martin Luther King wygłosił kazanie, wiele lat temu .

 Spotkaliśmy się na obiad , nie daleko od gdzie byliśmy , rozmawialiśmy o stosunkach rodzinnych, ojca , który mamy znanych od wielu lat i ich podróży do Irlandii zanim dotarli do Niemiec . Kiedy skończyliśmy , Joan i ja zatrzymaliśmy się w małej piekarni i mieliśmy kawę i sernik . Jutro idziemy do Drezna
