Jarmark and bread cake.

Many Poznańans cannot imagine a year without a visit to the Fair Świętojańskim. The event this year will be held for the 38th time.  Everyone knows about the fair and the Old Market traders do not have to worry about the lack of customers. This year's fair started today and there are exhibitors not only from Poland but also from Hungary, Lithuania, Peru and Mexico.   On the stands, like every year, you can buy handicrafts, unique jewelery and delicacies from various regions of the world. Although the essence of the fair are the stalls, as usual, there will be a rich cultural program. - The artistic program on the weekend starts at 12:00 and goes until 11PM.  Weekdays it starts at 4PM. For 16 days performers will dance, play and sing every day. Separate day will be devoted to performances by veterans of the music scene.   June 30 will be devoted to a charity concert for Peter Cords - a Poznan musician, who after a stroke, can communicate with the world only through his eyes.    There will also be activities for children. Between the buildings of the Municipal Gallery Arsenal and Wielkopolska Military Museum will be the children's area. Anyone wishing to quietly do some shopping at the stalls there will be able to leave their children under the professional care team to ensure that the little ones will not bored.

 Joan and I visited there today and will return tomorrow with my camera.  With such a beautiful day we stayed for about two hours there and then went to sit by the fountain in front of the opera house afterwards. Both sides of the fountain park are lined with old trees and provide a lot of shade for hot days although today is was only 25C(75F).  Both sides have many benches for sitting and today it was easy to occupy one of them, which we did.  Surrounding the fountain are always an array of colorful flowers, nice to look at but we enjoy watching the little children playing in the water under a parent or grandparent's supervision. Another hour was spent there and finally we returned home.

Another new item from Joan's bakery :-)  Golden cake bread made of 2 teaspoons of vanilla, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup of milk, dry yeast, salt, 1/2 cup of sugar, 4 cups flour. It looks like a loaf of bread but tastes like a cake.

Wielu poznaniaków nie wyobraża sobie lata bez wizyty na Targach Świętojańskich.  W  tym roku impreza odbędzie się już po raz 38.  Każdy wie o targach i handlarze na Starym Rynku  nie muszą martwić się o brak klientów. Dzisiaj rozpoczęła się tegoroczna edycja i wystawcy pochodzą nie tylko z Polski, ale także z Węgier, Litwy, Peru i Meksyku. Na stoiskach, jak co roku, można kupić rękodzieła, niepowtarzalną biżuterię i przysmaki z różnych regionów świata. Choć istotą targów są jak zwykle stragany, będzie także bogaty program kulturalny. W weekend program artystyczny  zaczyna się o 12:00 i trwa do godziny 23:00. W tygodniu  zaczyna się o godzinie 16:00. Przez  16 dni wykonawcy będą codziennie tańczyć, grać i śpiewać . Osobny dzień poświęcony będzie występom weteranów sceny muzycznej. 30 czerwca odbędzie się koncert charytatywny dla Piotra Sznury – poznańskiego muzyka, który po udarze mózgu, może komunikować się ze światem jedynie za pomocą oczu. Nie zabraknie również atrakcji dla dzieci. Między budynkami Galerii Miejskiej Arsenał i Wielkopolskiego Muzeum Wojskowego będzie strefa dla dzieci. Każdy, kto chce spokojnie zrobić zakupy na stoiskach będzie mógł zostawić swoje dzieci pod opieką  profesjonalnego zespołu, który zapewni maluchom zabawę.
 
  Dzisiaj byliśmy na Targach i wrócę tam jutro z aparatem fotograficznym.  W tak pięknym dniu zatrzymaliśmy się na około dwie godziny a później poszliśmy usiąść przy fontannie naprzeciwko opery. W parku,  po obu stronach fontanny rosną stare drzewa, które zapewniają dużo cienia w upalne dni, chociaż dzisiaj jest tylko 25C (75F). Po obu stronach jest  wiele ławek do siedzenia i dziś łatwo było zająć jedną z nich, co też zrobiliśmy. Fontannę zawsze otacza rabata z kolorowych kwiatów, miła dla oka, ale my cieszyliśmy się widokiem bawiących się w wodzie małych dzieci pod okiem rodzica lub dziadków . Spędziliśmy tam kolejną godzinę i wreszcie wróciliśmy do domu.
 
Kolejna nowa pozycja z wypieków Joan :-) złoty bochenek -  ciasto z 2 łyżeczki wanilii, 2 jajek, 1/2 filiżanki masła, 1 szklanki mleka, suchych drożdży, soli,  1/2 szklanki cukru, 4 szklanek mąki. Wygląda jak bochenek chleba, ale smakuje jak ciasto.
