Happy woman!!

Open outside cafe.
Platform construction.

Nasty advertisement sign.
Joan is a happy woman today, happier than usual and that's not to say that she isn't usually happy. She visited her friend Stacie today and was given a present of Ziplock bags. It may not seem like a big thing for those of you not living in Poland but those bags are almost impossible to find. We haven't found a store yet that carries them.

While she was visiting with Stacie I went to the Rynek to see what was happening. There are an assortment of kiosks set up selling bread, Easter decorations, food and best of all, construction has been started on the outside cafe's. One is already open because it needs no platform built in front of it's restaurant. Our favorite one, Room 55, hasn't started the construction yet but I'm sure it won't be long before they do. Spring is here and that means outside cafe's.

One thing that is becoming increasingly annoying is the use of large advertisements placed on the side of beautiful old buildings obstructing the view of the buildings. One such ad is on a building toward the end of S.W. Marciń street where the tram turns left toward Plac Wolnośći. I hate those signs but there are becoming more popular each year, popping up everywhere. They are even putting them on buildings with apartments and one apartment dweller was so infuriated by them that he cut a whole in one so he could see out of his windows.

  1. David,

The outdoor cafes are probably one of the things I miss the most about Poland. They are great and one can never get enough of them.

    Enjoy the spring.

  2. Yes, we love them too. Also the blossoming of the rape seed everywhere. It won't be long until Poland is a sea of yellow.
