Beautiful Day.

So we had to go to Sołacki park for a few hours, sit, watch the people and walk around. From there we went to the Rynek to see what progress has been made on the outside cafes and were amazed to see that almost all of them are up. Not completely but at the least the platforms are made that hold the chairs and tables. The place was packed with people so we couldn't open our "cafe" season at Room 55 and had to start at Sart, another cafe. Still, it was good to be outside having coffee and watching the parade of citizens go by.

On the erected stage were a group performing and singing traditional Polish folk music wearing the beautiful costumes. We stopped and listened to them for a while.

Poznań has started a huge advertisment campaign to attract tourists this year and all historical buildings will have a blue star on them to let them know it is of historical value. After the coffee was over we walked past the Sioux cafe. Outside were three "Indians" doing a performance in full indian dress but playing some very un-indian instruments like a Peruvian flute. Even so, it looks good for the tourist.

In Plac Wolnośći they have erected a large sign "Poznań" that is the cornerstone for the new advertisements. Joan is in the middle of the picture but you have to enlarge it to really see her.

  1. David,

The Indians are from South America. I spoke to them the last time I saw them in Poznan. I have also seen the exact same ones in Kolobrzeg on the coast. They apparently travel around playing for crowds, but seem to be in Poznan often.

I think only one of them is a Pole.

  2. Yes, I didn't think they were American Indians.
