Merry Christmas 2008

We spent Christmas day at home. Joan baked a chicken, made stuffing and zuccini and I made the mashed potatoes. It was a quiet day of watching Christmas programs on TV, a little walk, writing emails, calling cousins about upcoming visits and relaxing.

Tomorrow we go back to Golina to visit with cousin Anna at 11AM, cousin Ambroży at 1:30PM and finally with cousin Krzysztof in Koniń at 5PM.
Here's a question for you. Do you know anything about a sweet bread that was made at Christmas time with sweet yeast and was stuffed with sauerkraut? What was it called and do you know the recipe?

Spędziliśmy dzień Boże Narodzenie w domu. Joan upiekła kurczę, zrobiła wyściełanie i zuccini i zrobiłem ziemniaki purée. To był spokojny dzień obserwowania programów Bożego Narodzenia na telewizji, trochę spaceru, pisząc email, nazywając kuzynów o nadchodzących wizytach i odprężanie się.

Jutro wracamy do Golina by bywać z kuzyna Anną przy 11AM, kuzyna Ambroży o 1:30PM i w końcu z kuzyna Krzysztof w Koniń przy 5PM.

Tutaj jest pytanie dla ciebie. Czy wiesz coś o słodkim chlebie, który był zrobiony w czasie Bożym Narodzeniu ze słodkimi drożdżami i był wypychany z kiszoną kapustą? Co było to nazwane i znasz receptę?

    Dear Joan and David,

    Yes there is such a thing,but it was made with sweet cabbage and not sourkraut.
    The name is KULEBIAK.
    I do have a recipe but it wil take me little time to translate into English. As soon as I getdone I will send to you. Also you can check in your local library for cookbooks giving you recipe in Polish.

    Dear Joan and David,

    I found the website where you can get a whole bunch of recipes from Poland in English. The website is chef2chef.net.
    You can search for any dish made in Poland and they have recipe for KULEBIAK that is made the same way as my recipe from Polish Baking book.

    Good luck and I hope you will be succesful baking Kulebiak.
