No tires.

Great day for changing tires! Sun was out so the drive to Antoninek was nice. It's just a little town east of Poznań and only a few kilometers from Cousin Luka's. I got there at 9:14AM, thought it would take about 1/2 hour. I was sooooooo wrong. I went up to the counter of the tire changing area and told the guy I wanted to put on my winter tires. He opened a book, flipped through several pages and told me the earliest he could do it was November 28th. November 28th. That's nine days from today. Evidently, according to Zbyszek, I waited too long and many people have the same idea. He said the wait in Warsaw was even greater at this time of the year.........6 weeks. So I made the apointment for November 28th at 9:30AM. Zbyszek said that next year I should do it the last week of October avoid the wait and so I will.

I had my second meeting with little cousin Rózia. We're working on her learning the parts of the body like ears, nose, eyes, etc. in English. Luka said her mother and father had just left for Ustka, a city on the Baltic sea where they will stay for two weeks in a spa.

At 4PM we went to Zbyszek's flat to christian a new coffee maker he had bought. We had coffee, cakes and talked for two hours, then returned home. It's rainy, windy and cold tonight.

On otworzył książkę, prztykał przez kilka stron i powiedział mi najwcześniej on mógłby zrobić to był listopad 28.. Listopad 28.. To jest dziewięć dni od dzisiaj. Najwyraźniej, stosownie do Zbyszek, czekałem zbyt długo i dużo ludzi mają tę samą ideę. On powiedział oczekiwanie w Warszawie było nawet większe w tym razem year.........6 tygodni.

Przy 4PM poszliśmy do mieszkania Zbyszek do chześcijanina nowy ekspres do kawy on kupił.

  1. Now do you remember "Head and shoulders, knees and toes?" And it's time too for the Hokey-Pokey. With Hokey-Pokey one can do a lot of funny thing, putting in your hair, or tongue, or elbow, etc. My experience is that Polish kids like to draw. Have her draw a picture and then you can start attaching labels/words to what's in the picture and she has something to look at between your lessons that is meaningful to her, because they are pictures of things/scenes of interest to her.

We had a child come from as far as Krakow this last summer. Perhaps when she is nine or ten she came to Reymontowka for a summer camp. For many of the kids this age it's their first sleep over camp. The counselor ratio is about one to ten. These are Polish university students. Then there are all of the GVs around too that can keep kids out of trouble or offer a listening year. One day I saw some boys throwing a ball repeatedly at a car. I yelled, "Uwaga samochod." They quit and they think they were surprised one of those American volunteers could yell at them in Polish!
