Surprise!!

Yesterday we discovered that we had no hot water in our flat and thought the problem would be fixed by the end of the day. It wasn't. Today we woke up and still no hot water. I called our landlady. She called back in an hour to inform us that the water pipes on the adjacent street were being replaced and we would be without hot water until August 13th, next week. Normally that would be cause for alarm, don't you think? A week without hot water to bathe, wash dishes and clothes? We thought about it for a few minutes and decided it wasn't that big of a problem. Joan and I have lived in Upper Michigan without ANY water when we lived in a teepee and then in the first house I built. I always came up with ways to heat water for bathing and washing dishes so we can certainly do that here. Besides, if it gets hot enough a cold shower will feel good!!

In our travels around Poznań it's always interesting to see how many building projects, renovations, street and sidewalks repairs are taking place. It's not just confined to Poznań, of course, there is construction everywhere in Poland. Whether or not you like the fact of Poland joining the EU you can't deny the change in Poland since it joined. Yes, prices have gone up a huge amount, gasoline, housing, food, everything is more expensive. My only hope is that Poland will not loose it's identity, its culture, traditions and history and be subordinate to the EU.

The weather has been very diversified in the last week. Some hot days, some chilly. Today it is only 68 degrees, cloudy, very windy and with a little rain. It's summer but it is not summer. Personally, I like the cooler temperatures.

Joan is doing well, fully recovered from her ankle problem, walking everywhere at a pace that's hard to keep up with. She's studying hard and looking forward to our anniversary celebration. I made the reservation for dinner and now we'll just wait until next Tuesday. We've talked a little about a visit next year to the grandkids in the U.S. but we'll make no decision now. Maybe, because of finances, she will go by herself.

Wczoraj odkryliśmy, że nie mieliśmy żadnej gorącej wody w naszym mieszkaniu i pomyśleliśmy, że problem byłby ustalony przez koniec dnia. To nie było. Dzisiaj budziliśmy się i jeszcze żadna gorąca woda. Zawołałem naszą ziemiankę. Ona oddzwoniła w godzinie by poinformować nas, że wodociągi na graniczącej ulicy były zastąpione i bylibyśmy bez gorącej wody aż do sierpnia 13., w przyszłym tygodniu. Normalnie, które byłoby powód dla alarmu, nie rób myślisz? Tydzień bez gorącej wody by wykąpać się, umyć naczynia i ubranie? Pomyśleliśmy o tym przez kilka minut i zdecydowaliśmy, że to nie było, że duże problemu. Joan i ja zamieszkałem w Wyższym Michigan bez JAKIEJKOLWIEK wody kiedy zamieszkaliśmy w namiocie u Indian i wtedy w pierwszym domu zbudowałem. Zawsze znalazłem sposoby by ogrzać wodę dla kąpania i myjących się naczyń tak możemy na pewno zrobić tak tutaj. Poza tym, jeżeli to dostaje gorąco dość zimny prysznic poczuje się dobre!!

W naszych podróżach dookoła Poznań to zawsze interesuje zobaczyć ile budujące projekty, odnowienia, ulica i chodników naprawy mają miejsce.

To nie jest właśnie ograniczone do Poznań, oczywiście, jest budowa wszędzie w Polsce. Czy tak czy nie lubisz fakt Polski dołączającej do UE nie możesz zaprzeczyć zmianie w Polsce odkąd to połączyło się. Tak, ceny poszły na górę ogromną ilość, gazolinę, lokując, żywność, wszystko jest droższe. Moja jedyna nadzieja jest, że Polska nie rozwiąże to jest tożsamość, jego kultura, tradycje i historia i jest podwładna do UE.

Pogoda była bardzo urozmaicona we w ubiegłym tygodniu. Kilka gorących dni, trochę chłodnych. Dzisiaj to jest tylko 68 stopni, pochmurny, bardzo wystawiony na wiatr i z trochę deszczem. To jest lato ale to nie jest lato. Osobiście, lubię temperatury chłodnicy.

Joan robi dobrze, w pełni odzyskana od jej problemu kostki , chodząc wszędzie przy kroku, który jest twardy by nadążyć za. Ona studiuje twardo i oczekuje naszego celebrowania rocznicy. Robiłem rezerwację dla obiadu i teraz właśnie będziemy czekać aż do następnego wtorku. Powiedzieliśmy trochę o wizycie przyszły rok do grandkids w Stanach Zjednoczonych ale nie będziemy robić żadnej decyzji teraz. Być może, z powodu finansów, ona pójdzie sama.
