Bamberka and Town Hall.

We arrived at the Rynek just in time for the parading of the Calvary. It's always a big draw for the crowd.

The Bamberka celebration started at 12:15 and last for about an hour and a half. This is a celebration to remember the the people who settled in Poznań from Bamberg, Germany. I wrote about them in an earlier blog. The headresses and folk dresses were very beautiful.

After the event was over we went into the old Town hall. It's the first time we have been inside and it was really interesting.

The Renaissance Town Hall was used as the City's administration building till 1939. It is the finest example of a seat of urban government in Poland. The gothic town hall that preceded it on this site burnt down in 1536 and was replaced by the Italian architect Giovanni Battista Quadro with the present structure. Three loggias decorate the front of the building and are surmounted by three small towers with intervening attica. The central small tower is equipped with a clock and above it with doors from which at the noon hour emerge two rams, symbols of Poznań, that battle each other. Below the clock can be seen the royal monogram. To the side of are portraits of the Kings of the Jagiellonian dynasty. The tower is a later addition, the original one having collapsed in Inside on the first floor is the Renaissance Hall, richly decorated with astral, grotesques, plant and fantastic themes. The Ratusz burnt down during WWII as the result of military operations and was rebuilt thereafter. Today it is the location of Poznań's Historical Museum.

I took a lot of pictures and they are on the left side of the blog as Town Hall.

Our wedding anniversary is coming up on the 12th. Every year we have celebrated it with dinner in a fine restaurant. We have found 3 in Poznań and Joan is checking menus to see which one she likes best. We save a little money each month in anticipation of our next anniversary.

To jest celebrowanie by zapamiętać ludzie, którzy osiedlani w Poznań z Bamberg, Niemiec. Napisałem o nich we wcześniejszym blog. Headresses i ubiory ludu były bardzo piękne.
Gdy zdarzenie było ponad my poszło do starego Ratusza.

Każdego roku celebrowaliśmy to z obiadem w świetnej restauracji. Znaleźliśmy 3 w Poznań i Joan sprawdza menu by zobaczyć, który ona lubi najlepiej. Oszczędzamy trochę pieniędzy każdego miesiąca w oczekiwaniu naszej następnej rocznicy.
