Ulica Wolstynska

Boot cops

Today we took a walk down Wolstynska street, about 4 blocks east of where we live. It's between Bukowska and Marcelińska street. Jacket weather today but the sun was out, very little wind and a good day for walking. I like walking the little streets because the houses are more interesting and you never know what kind of flowers and bushes you will find in the yards.

We came to one corner and found these two "Boot Cops" removing the boot from a car. The boot is put on cars parked in unauthorized places. It prevents the car from moving. It has a phone number on it for you to call and when you do a police car shows up with the keys to unlock it. Of course, there is a fine to pay for the violation and I believe you pay the police who unlock and remove the boot.

Przyszliśmy do jednego kąta i znaleźliśmy te dwie "Buta Gliny" usuwające but od samochodu. But jest położony na samochodach zaparkowanych w nie upoważnionych miejscach. To przeszkadza samochodowi w poruszeniu. To ma numer telefonu na tym dla ciebie by zawołać i kiedy przerabiasz samochodu policyjnego pokazy z kluczami by otworzyć to. Oczywiście, jest grzywna by zapłacić za pogwałcenie i wierzę, że płacisz policję, która otwierają i usuwają but.

    Dear Joan and David,

I love your pictures of the bushes and plants. They are so vivid and bring a lot of memories when I used to grow them while I was in Poland.
So I was able to ID the bush with orange red flowers - it is rhododendron. They grow in Poland and have to be protected somewhat from hard freeze. Botanical gardens can have different species. As to the other one - white - without close up I can not tell you what it is. Could be also some type of rhododendron or azalea.
Your blog is really fun and has so much information for everyone.
Keep up good work and I hope you will find the house with little land around it so you can have all the plants and flowers your hearts desire.

    Best wishes,
