Sołacki Park

Today I took Joan back to Sołacki Park. It's located about 2 miles north of us and a great park for walking. Of course the trees are full of leaves now, daisies and dandelions are all over the green areas and the temperature was perfect for walking. Joan walked, with a little support of the crutch, for about 20 minutes and then we sat down on a park bench to watch people going by. There's a big area we call the Kiddi Coral because it's a fenced in area with parents bring their children to play.

After we got back home, I did a load of wash and Joan prepared dinner. Joan prepared dinner, ah that was nice.

I read the news about the summer activities that will be going on in Poznań and there will be lots of them. Joe Cocker, Patti Smith and Sinead O'Connor are giving concerts here and the great English bluesman John Mayall will also be performing at Stary Browar. May 11 – 18 Poznań will host Vivaldi Days 2008. The co-organiser of the "Poznań Vivaldi Days" is Arte dei Suonatori. The performers will include, among others, the legendary Swiss violinist Chiara Banchini and Dan Laurin, who will perform his transcription of the "Four Seasons" for the first time in three years, accompanied by Arte dei Suonatori. “Four Seasons” are already known to the audience from a CD recorded by the musicians for the BIS Records label. June 7 – 15 is the 33rd St. John's FairOld Market. St. John's Fair is the largest cultural and entertainment event in Poznań. Its tradition refers to medieval fairs which once took place in the centre of Poznań. Today, it is very similar. For a week, the Old Market in Poznań turns into a large fair in which one can buy virtually anything. Most people flock to stands offering antiques. This year, trading will be accompanied by performances by music and theatre groups. May 11, 7 p.m at the Town Hall, the Renaissance Room and Market Square the will be music of the Kings of Poland 15th – 16th century. The programme of the concert includes works of Mikołaj from Radom, Mikołaj from Ostroróg, Piotr from Grudziądz, Mikołaj Gomółka, Wacław from Szamotuły, Cyprian Bazylik, Krzysztof Klabon, Marcin Leopolita, Wojciech Długoraj and anonymous composers.
Lots going on in Poznań!!

Dzisiaj odebrałem Joan do Sołacki Parku.

Gdy otrzymaliśmy z powrotem do domu, zrobiłem ładunek mycia i Joan przygotowała obiad. Joan przygotowała obiad, ach, który był miły.

  1. The first time in Poland when some other volunteers saw dandelions, they said, "oh, they have them, too." I laughed and asked where they thought dandelions came from -- they aren't a native species in the United States. Now I don't mean they came from Poland, but they surely came from Europe to North America. The Europeans don't seem to be as bothered about them as are Americans.

  2. Lori,
Yes, I was always dissappointed in America when I saw a field of dandelions one day and then mowed down the next.
