We have a new baby..............Panda!

We got up early today because we thought the scenes outside with the snow would be good for picture taking but the temperature rose above freezing so all of the snow had come off the trees. We went back to bed and got up at 9AM.

Our friend Zybyszek picked us up at 12:00 and we drove to Pol-Car(Fiat Dealership) to finalize the deal on the car. After signing papers and arranging for car insurance, they changed the normal tires for snow tires and the deal was completed. Unlike the U.S., they still use two sets of tires, one for winter and one for the other seasons. The insurance was cheaper than we thought it was going to be and included towing and road service. We paid 4.5% of the cost of the car. Almost the same as in the U.S. but a little cheaper. It took a little time for me to get used to this automatic system, it's a dual logic system and you can either drive in manual or automatic but you have to know how to put it into either form. I tried backing out of the dealership but couldn't move the car and the salesperson had to come over and show me how to use it. This car has a computer in it that gives a digital readout of the temperature outside, the radio station you're listening to, whether you are in manual or automatic mode, time, date and year. Of course, there are manuals that came with the car, in Polish, so it would have taken some time to figure them out even with Zybyszek there. Like a father, he followed us home to make sure we got there, I parked the car and we said goodbye after thanking him for all of his help in this purchase.

Nasz przyjaciel Zybyszek podniósł nas o 12:00 i my popędziliśmy do Polityka Samochodu(Fiat Kupiectwo) by sfinalizować ilość na samochodzie.

    David,

Love your cute little brown car. I'm sure it will serve you well.

Now that you have transportation I will tell you about something that looks like it is worth seeing. I have before me a picture I tore out of a magazine at the dentist's office. In the tiny village of Szymbark, Poland the architect Daniel Czapiewski has built an upside-down home. He says it is symbolic of the upheaval that Poland underwent during decades of Communist rule. It has become a tourist attraction. The house is made of wood planks, off kilter and with the pointed roof on the ground. Perhaps you can find a picture on the Internet.

    I love the Chopin music.

  2. Hi Carol,
I have seen this house in pictures even before we left the U.S. Someday we will see it in person.

I love the Chopin music also:-)

    Congratulations,

Looks like you have a new baby to take care off. I hope it will behave well and you will be proud of your decision. I am sure that with your friend's help you got super deal and now you can study Polish to your heart's desire in order to learn how to do things.
I love Chopin music and listen to it all the time. It is different than any other piano music in the world. I think you are born with love for Chopin in your blood.
Good luck and enjoy freedom of going places or doing things on your own time or going to school in bad weather.
Ask your friend for help to get Club or other protection for the car against theft.

Have a great time and enjoy.
