We received our letters today from the immigration office that our temporay resident cards are ready to be picked up. Tomorrow we will go to our bank and pay the 50 zl each to their account and then cross over Plac Wolnośći to the office where we will get the cards. It took 3 weeks for our cards to arrive from Warsaw. Now we are only waiting for our Pesel number from Warsaw so we can buy a car.
As you know, I am deeply involved with the genealogy of my family. I am still, some 6 laters, being contacted by "new" cousins I have not corresponded with before. Two months ago I was contacted by a young 16 year old cousin, Nora Bekalarek. She is a great great great granddaughter of Stanisław and Anna Rajewscy. Her parents are from Słupca, Poland but live in Germany now. She would like to go to America next summer for a holiday to meet relatives there and perfect her English language. If we still lived in America, I would give her a place to stay, as we did with cousin Oliwia Kupińska, when we lived in America but obviously we can't do that now. If any cousin, in America, would like to help her with a place to stay, please contact me through email. She speaks Polish, English and German so language would not be a problem. I think it is fantastic that so young a person is interested in her heritage.
Today we spent cleaning our flat, studying, washing clothes and talked a little more about the possibility of me becoming an English teacher next year.
Otrzymaliśmy nasze listy dzisiaj od biura imigracji, które nasz temporay przebywające karty są gotowe by być podniesione. Jutro pójdziemy do naszego banku i zapłacimy 50 zl każdy do ich rachunku i wtedy przejdziemy Plac Wolnośći do biura gdzie dostaniemy karty. To zajęło 3 tygodnie dla naszych kart by przybyć z Warszawy. Teraz tylko czekamy na naszą Pesel liczbę z Warszawy tak możemy kupić samochód.
Jak wiesz, jestem głęboko włączony z genealogią mojej rodziny. Jestem cichy, trochę 6 laters, byciem skontaktowany przez "nowych" kuzynów, których nie odpowiedziałem z przedtem. Dwa miesiące temu byłem skontaktowany do młodego 16 roku stary kuzyn, Nora Bekalarek. Ona jest wielką wielką wielką wnuczką Stanisław i Anny Rajewscy. Jej rodzice są ze Słupca, Polski ale mieszkają w Niemczech teraz. Ona chciałyby pojechać do Ameryki następne lato przez urlop by spotkać krewnych tam i udoskonalić jej język angielski. Gdybyśmy jeszcze mieszkaliśmy w Ameryce, dawałbym, żeby jej miejsce pozostawało, jak robiliśmy z kuzyna Oliwia Kupińska, kiedy mieszkaliśmy w Ameryce ale oczywiście nie możemy zrobić tak teraz. Jeżeli jakikolwiek kuzyn, w Ameryce, chcieliby pomóc jej z miejscem pozostać, proszę skontaktuj mnie przez email. Ona mówi po polsku, po angielsku i po niemiecku tak język nie byłby problem. Myślę, że to jest fantastyczne, że tak młode osoba jest zainteresowana w jej dziedzictwie.
Dzisiaj spędzić czyszczenie naszego płaskiego, studiującego, myjącego się ubrania i powiedzieliśmy trochę bardziej o możliwości o mnie stosownym angielskiego nauczyciela przyszły rok.
I have taught English in Poland four times through Global Volunteers. All the students we work with are from the Siedlce area. This came about in the early days of Poland's freedom from Communism. The Rural Solidarity party in the Siedlce area expressed an interest in having Global Volunteers come. In 2002 I taught in a summer language camp in Zakopane for students from Siedlce. In 2004 and 2006 I stayed at Reymontowaka outside of Siedlce and taught in the villages of Cisie and Dabrowka Stany. In the summer of 2007 I went back to Reymontowka again for two sessions of language camp. I will be back in 2008 first at a camp in Zakopane and then at another one at Reymontowka.
