View

The view from outside our kitchen windows shows "our" tree changing it's colors as fall continues on. The weather has been great for walks, sunny, clear and a little cool.

Our friend Zybysek called today and Wednesday or Thursday we will be taking a little excursion to Gniezno to look at a few cars and just enjoy the day of travel and an outing outside of Poznań. It's the one thing I miss, not having a car yet, the ability to travel when you want and to wherever you want.

I was surprised today while online with an Instant Message conversion from our friend Allen from the United States. That's what I like about this day and age, the instant communication possibilities. Just like that I was talking with someone in the States without having to wait for letters in the mail. He is planning a visit to us next year in May with his wife. That was good news. He was the driver of the commuter train that Joan and I use to take to work everyday. We met one day and discovered that we both had geneology of Polish ancestry so we became friends. We had a few meetings before we left America and he said he always wanted to come to Poland and now he had someone to come to so he would.

I see by the counter I have added to our site that about 20 people a day look at our site and so I see there is an interest in Poland and what life is like here for a "transplant". It is so different here and yet, it is the same. People live and hope for a better life as they do anywhere, I think. There are problems in all areas but there are solutions that are being sought. Governments are governments, like in any country. You hope they have the common person in the ideals but not all are like that. It is more, what can I do for myself than Poland or America, and that is sad in all respects.

Today we stayed home and studied, cleaned the house, wrote some emails, watched the news (depressing), talked about buying a car and thought how lucky we are to have made the choice we have and to be happy with it. When you are younger it is easy to jump from one thing to another and not worry about the consequences but when older, these thoughts come into your mind. Still, we are happy with our decision.

On planuje wizytę do nas przyszły rok w maju z jego żoną. Mieliśmy kilka spotkań przed my opuściły Amerykę i on mówił on zawsze chciał przyjechać do Polski i teraz on miał kogoś by przyjść do tak go byłby.

    Dear Joan and David,

I hope that you got my e mails. I love your blog and your comments and pictures. When we move to Poland I will do the same for all my friends in US. They will get all the news fast and I be able to get their comments also very quickly. When you think to the times when your family came to US, you had to wait days for letter to arrive and even than sometimes it got lost. Back than it was quite expansive to send letters, so you did only on very special occasions. Now you just get on Internet and you send pictures, letters and even talk to your family and friends using computers. How did we live before all this stuff.
I am so glad that you are happy with your decision to move to Poland and you are planning to stay.
Thanks to your help and information we are getting our affairs organized and streamlined before we make our move.
By the way the tree in front of your apartment is topola - poplar in English. When they bloom in spring they send tons of fuzzy stuff flying all over the place. Those are seeds attached to little wind parachutes, but you still have time to think about spring.
Enjoy your trip to Gniezno and see the sites there.
Good luck with the car. By the way Skoda is also very good car to buy, maybe more expensive but very good.

Good luck and best wishes to you both,

You're right about the Internet. It makes everything happen so much quicker now and has been a tremendous help to me in finding out about my family. I'm sure it will benefit your communications when you move back to Poland.
I am happy that our blog was helpful to you in getting your plan organized.
