Chivalry

I've experienced this enough times now on the bus and tram so I thought I mention another difference between the U.S. and Poland. Usually when there are not enough seats on a bus, a younger person will give up their seat to an older person, without being asked. It happened again today on the bus home from Ikea. 3 teenage girls were sitting across from us and when the bus stopped to pick up several older people, the 3 girls all gave up their seats. I don't remember that happening in the U.S.

At Ikea we bought a fitted sheet for a Queen sized bed..49.99zl,$18.72USD; a pillow for the same price, a pillow case for 19.99 zl, $7.50USD and 6 "D" batteries for 13.98 zl, $5.23USD.

    FROM ANNA IN FLORIDA

    DAVID,

IN POLAND THERE IS A LESSON DURING THE SCHOOL WEEK CALLED GODZINA WYCHOWAWCZA, WHERE YOUNG STUDENTS ARE TOUGHT GOOD MANNERS, PROPER BEHAVIOR AND RESPECT FOR THEIR ELDERS. ALSO AT HOME PARENTS PAY ATTENTION TO BEHAVIOR OF YOUNG CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS.
YOU MENTIONED IN YOUR DAILY ACCOUNTS THAT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HANG ANY PICTURES ON THE WALLS. MAYBE YOU CAN FIND SOME SUCTION CUP HANGERS OR SELF ADHESIVE WALL HANGERS WITH RELEASE TABS FROM 3 M. YOU CAN FIND THEM AT YOUR BIG SUPERMARKET STORE IN FRAME AND ART SUPPLY DEPARTMENT OR MAYBE IN ONE OF THE GENERAL STORES.
YOUR DAILY ACCOUNT OF LIFE IN POLAND IS GREAT AND I FIND IT VERY INTERESTING AND I AM SO GLAD THAT SO FAR YOU ARE HAVE GREAT TIME.
KEEP UP GOOD WORKS. ALSO LOVE YOUR PICTURES OF YOUR FAMILY FROM YEARS BACK.

  2. Dear Anna,
I think that's a class they have in America!

I check and see if we can find those types of hangers the next time we go to the "supermarket".

    David,
I'm *so* jealous of your access to the IKEA store. Here in Colorado there aren't any withing reasonable driving distance -- I think the closest one is in Arizona. I got spoiled shopping at them when I lived on the East Coast...

    Oh well...

  4. Kind of funny that I'm in Poland and I have better access than you.
